Wigan school gets new fence after safety concerns raised
However, there was a problem as the Holly Road school no longer owned the section of land on which the broken fence was situated.
The elected representatives for Aspull New Springs and Whelley ward got in touch with the town hall and the department of engineers got to work on finding a solution.

Hide AdA three-way partnership between councillors, Wigan Council and the school came up with the goods and a secure, modern fence is now in pride of place.
Coun Ron Conway said the elected politicians were not going to give up until the fence was mended as it was an issue of children’s safety.
Dave Lyon, Wigan Council assistant director for environment and housing operations, said: “When Coun Chris Ready came to us we left no stone unturned to find a solution.
“This was a real partnership in action.
“It’s community wealth building at its best.”
Our Lady’s RC Primary School headteacher Chris Horridge said: ”I can’t thank everybody enough.
