Body found in canal
The body of a woman has been found in a canal in Wigan.
Police were called to the canal off Gathurst Lane, Shevington, behind the Baby Elephant at 8.45am this morning, Friday, and found the body of woman.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
It is the second time in two weeks that a body has been discovered in the borough’s canals after the body of Mervyn Craig, 46, was found near Wigan pier on March 7.
