Delay to court hearings for 'truant' borough parents

Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court is currently only dealing with urgent cases, so has adjourned the hearings, which were scheduled to take place this week.
Vicky Bromley and Mark Greeley, both of The Pewfist in Westhoughton, are alleged to have failed to send their daughter to St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School in Hindley regularly between September 3 and December 20.

Hide AdKirsty McGill, of Opal Grove, Leigh, is accused of failing to send her son to Christ Church CE Primary School in Pennington regularly between the same dates, while Emily Singleton, of Diamond Street, Leigh, is alleged to have not sent her son to the same school.
Joanne Nicholson, of Chestnut Road, Bottling Wood, is charged with not sending her daughter to Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Leigh.
The cases are expected to be dealt with later in the year, though dates have not yet been set.
