Ryan Doyle appeared before Wigan justices charged with robbing James Church of a Vauxhall Corsa in Leigh on March 26, failing to stop at the scene of an accident on Astley Street when a Vauxhall Insignia was damaged.
Doyle, 25, of Commissioner Square, Warrington, is also accused of committing a licence offence and of having no insurance.

The court heard that the robbery allegation is so serious that it can only be dealt with at the crown court.
Doyle will appear before a Bolton judge on November 11 and is on unconditional bail until then.
