Awarding the pubs with community citations were proud councillors Chris Ready and Ron Conway, along with Aspull New Springs Whelley community officer Laura Flynn.
She said: “What a magnificent achievement from the licensees Carl and Sharon Connolly at The Balcarres, and Stephen and Lynn Salter at The Crown.
“It’s been a difficult year for everyone, but the hospitality industry has been hit particularly hard.

Coun Ready said that he had known both sets of publicans, Steve and Lynn along with Carl and Sharon “for decades”.
He said: “I know how much they’ve done for charity over the years, but always on the quiet with no recognition.
“So we wanted to change that and give them a token of our thanks.”
Coun Conway said it was what made the community the best.
