Wigan residents urged to be prepared for possible flooding
and live on Freeview channel 276
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the upper River Douglas, which means flooding is possible.
It covers a large area running from Newburgh through Appley Bridge, Gathurst, Standish Lower Ground, the Robin Park area to Poolstsock.

Hide AdThe Environment Agency's website states: "River levels are rising as a result of persistent heavy rainfall which is forecasted to continue into Sunday morning. River levels are expected to remain high until after the rainfall has eased. We are continuing to monitor the situation with incident response staff actively checking river levels and the weather forecast."
There were 13 flood warnings and 73 flood alerts in place across England on Sunday morning as heavy rain continued to fall.
