Woman raped on canal towpath '“ CCTV released of suspects
The attack took place between 5.30am-6am, on Sunday, February 21.
A 24-year-old woman had been in Jumpin’ Jaks nightclub on King Street in Wigan town centre when she found herself separated from her friends.

Hide AdAfter making her way to the Scholes area in Wigan the woman began walking back towards the town centre to find friends.
She was then followed by two men and became disorientated. She found herself on Leigh Street in Wigan.
The victim was then raped in a secluded area on the canal towpath.
Police have now released CCTV images of two men they would like to identify and speak to regarding the attack.

Hide AdBoth men have been described as white, aged 20-30. One man was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit, black training shoes and had stubble on his face. The second man was wearing dark hooded clothing.
Det Sgt Graham Clare of GMP’s Wigan Division said: “After extensive enquiries by detectives, we have CCTV images of two men in the Scholes area, speaking to the woman. We are keen to identify the two men in the CCTV footage.
“Sadly they are not the clearest images, but they may jog someone’s memory.
“This was a very distressing attack and we understand that people will be concerned. We would like to assure people that we are doing everything we can to find the attackers.

Hide Ad“There will be extra patrols in the area and further CCTV is currently being sourced to identify the attackers.
“Anyone who recognises the men or has any information that could help police with this investigation is asked to get in touch. Any information, no matter how small could be vital to this investigation.”
